So excited to announce new patch designs! I'm combining my love of sewing with my love of arcade and retro video games and making small retro video game patches! These are a limited time offer, and will be for sale at the 2015 Salem Arts Festival this June.
First we have the Pacman characters.
And also some Space Invaders.
I recently finished stitching the Pacman characters!
They're about 2x2 inches each, and they've already been wicked popular, so I'm expecting that they'll sell out fast! Come on down to the 2015 Salem Arts Festival and check them out!
Last Saturday was Montserrat College of Art's annual auction Artrageous. I had one of my small pattern pieces in the Silent Auction, and the event was absolutely mind-blowing! There were so many more people than I was expecting, and it was great to see some old friends and teachers.
The Silent Auction was divided into multiple catagories, and of course mine was a part of the "repetition" area. We arrived 20 minutes after the event started and I was so excited to see a bid already on my piece! It was amazing to watch people get close to my pieec and discuss it, and then bid on it. I even watched a little bidding war going on over it!
By the time we left I had four bids on my pieec. The money becomes a donation to Montserrat, but it was great to get so much exposure! Such a great event, a...
Last Thursday was PEM PM - Artopia at the Peabody Essex Museum. It was such a great night! I worked with Creative Salem to run a table and do another live art demo.
Instead of creating another skull, I decided to do a special logo piece for Creative Salem.
Of course, the piece is nowhere near being done, but it's going to be awesome when it is! Instead of simply stitching the logo as its usual yellow and purple, I'm going to make it all sorts of funky colors, and really psychadelic looking. Once again, the response was amazing! I even had these two little guys stick around and watch me stitch for a bit!
They were so fascinated! Overall, it was an amazing and fun night, and I can't wait for the next event! I'll be at the Salem Arts Festival with Creative Salem again, and will be working on...
Happy to announce my piece has been accepted into the Artrageous 29 auction at Montserrat College of Art! This is a huge opportunity, and I'm so excited to be part of it again! I haven't had a piece in the auction since I was a freshman there when one of my first needlepoint maps was accepted into the live auction. Fingers crossed I'm part of the live auction again!
Today was the Salem Chamber of Commerce Bizarre Bazaar (Biz Baz for short) and it was quite an amazing experience! Here I am set up at the incredible Creative Salem booth. Despite the typical rainy New England fall weather it ended up being a busy day.
This was the first time since college that I've publicly displayed my art, and the first time I've done a live art demo. I am so glad I did it! The response to my pieces was so encouraging, and I hope to have more oppotunities like this. It's definitely given me the courage to show off my work more and try to submit to some local shows.
For the demo I decided to not make another sugar skull and ended up starting another pattern piece. I've worked on it a bit more since the Biz Baz, and it's looking great! I'm estimating it will be done in a...
